Changing all the pictures by warping them and changing the
color modes was something I thought I did well and also having pictures that weren’t
really similar to each other. I could
probably find a good way to blend my pictures together so my collage would look
more put together and not as sharp/choppy. Changing each picture by warping it
and giving it a different color mode than before was easy because it alters the
picture but it’s not really difficult. Figuring out what pictures I would use
for the portrait was most likely the most difficult thing about this. I had
about 5 pictures and needed 8 more but I couldn’t think of what add to my
picture. I used the quick selection tool, the filter gallery, I changed the
color modes, and used many other tools to help me make my self-portrait the
best it can be. If I did this again, I’d probably choose different
pictures and use a different composition. I’d also probably actually plan out
what pictures I’m going to use beforehand so it doesn’t take me as long as it
did this time.

My strongest area of
work is the composition of each object and how they’re placed. Also, I was able to get the picture so that there was nothing left over from the background. I
could probably improve on making my pictures look like they weren’t actually
photoshopped and that they were the way they are originally. I could improve on
putting shadows under objects and making it so that they don’t look like
they’re just floating. It was easy using
the quick selection tool because you could easily select whatever you needed to
select and you could also undo selections that you didn’t mean to do. It
was hard using the magnetic lasso tool because sometimes it would select parts
of the picture that I didn’t want to select, and I’d have to deselect, and then
it would end up deselecting too much stuff. I used the quick selection tool, the magic wand tool, the lasso and
magnetic lasso tool, the elliptical marquee tool, and obviously the move tool. I
used a different selection tool for each object, and got to see how
difficult/easy it was to use each one. If I did this again, I would probably try
and add a shadow to each shell to make it look like it’s actually on the plate
and not floating/making it look like the picture was made in Photoshop.

Reflection Questions
The best part about this project is probably the color of the letter,
which is supposed to be representing BHS with the black and red. I could probably improve on finding
different ways to change the letterform and make the letter look a different
way every single time. Rotating and coming up with what colors I would use were
two of the easier things in doing this project. Making sure that each letter
was under the right layer that I wanted it to be under was more difficult than
anything else. When I wanted to move one layer, I ended up moving a different
layer at the same time. I used the text tool to actually type out some of the z's
but after I had a couple, I duplicated the letters so I wouldn’t have to type
out every single z on the page. The point of this project was to use one letter
and incorporate it into a design. I used one letter, z, and made it different
sizes and warped some of them so that it wasn’t just a plain, regular z. If I
could do this again, I would try to make an actual design with the letters
instead of just placing them in random places. The letterform would be
different and it would probably have a direction for your eyes to go to instead
of you just looking at the letters in random spots on the page.
